Tour Highlights:
Biomedical Engineering Laboratories are state-of-the-art facilities where researchers are tackling issues such as biophotonic diagnostics for early identification of diseases causing blindness; advanced prosthetic systems to give amputees sensation; targeted delivery of cancer and HIV fighting drugs; and biosensors to identify pathogens.  The Biomedical Engineering department at FIU is home to world-class faculty and pioneering research laboratories.

The Stocker AstroScience Center, an on-campus observatory that features a control room inspired by the bridge of the U.S.S. Enterprise from the popular TV series “Star Trek: The Next Generation.”  The observatory is capped off by a large dome featuring a main telescope with a platform for eight additional telescopes, offering students and the public up-close encounters with the stars and cutting-edge astronomy research.

The Simulation Teaching and Research (STAR) Center  at the Nicole Wertheim College of Nursing and Health Sciences, which brings a real-world healthcare experience to campus. Using simulation technology, students can help deliver a baby, resuscitate a cardiac patient, incubate a child suffering from an asthma attack, take patient vitals and more. The center provides learning and research opportunities that were unimaginable just a couple of decades ago.
