Annual Conference Showcases Advancements & Drives Growth of the Life Sciences Industry in Florida



FT. LAUDERDALE, FL (October 3, 2018) - Hundreds of Florida's executives, scientists, researchers, investors, legislators, and service providers from the biopharmaceutical, medical device, and healthIT industry will gather October 14-16 at The Westin Fort Lauderdale Beach Resort to hear from experts on recent industry trends, connect with investors and potential partners, and celebrate Florida innovation and achievements-all to continue the growth of the industry in the state.

BioFlorida, the statewide association supporting the advancement of the life sciences, represents 6,200 establishments and research organizations attracting the largest and most prestigious life sciences community in the state. The industry consists of just over 87,000 direct jobs with an average salary of $78,000 (TEConomy/BIO - 2018). The number of companies in Florida's biotechnology industry grew 14.7% in 2017 alone, making it one of the stronger growth years since 2008 and bringing the total number of biotechnology companies to 343 with 57 new companies added this year (BioFlorida BioDatabase).

The 21st BioFlorida Annual Conference will feature recent scientific and business achievements, explore high-impact public policy initiatives, drive partnerships, and will include a special focus on Latin America and potential areas of collaboration. Three distinct, interactive programming tracks-BioScience, BioTrends, and BioBusiness-will offer attendees timely insights while showcasing the momentum and ingenuity of Florida's life sciences industry.
