Biotech touted as key to future
Members of a biotechnology caucus made up of lawmakers and industry leaders met for the second time Tuesday to discuss how Florida can better attract firms from the sector.
State Rep. Bill Galvano, R-Bradenton, who co-chairs the caucus, said it is important to attract biotech to Florida as the state strives to not be solely dependent on housing and tourism to feed its economy.
"This is an economic development tool," Galvano said after the meeting in Tallahassee. "It creates jobs and makes life better."
