BDB announces new deal in Palm Beach County
West Palm Beach, FLA – In cooperation with Enterprise Florida and the City of Boca Raton, the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County (BDB) announced that it has assisted Vicinitas Cancer Care, Cancer Treatment Centers of America® Preferred Provider Alliance, to locate its headquarters in Palm Beach County.
Vicinitas is a nation-wide network of physicians and other oncology care providers who share the same uncompromising focus on serving the needs of each individual patient. Each patient will work with a dedicated care manager to schedule all appointments, facilitate understanding of treatment options and coordinate communication among providers. The company is affiliated with Cancer Treatment Centers of America’s® national network of five cancer care hospitals.
Vicinitas is redefining community cancer care with its unique integrative model. Patients are better equipped, empowered and informed in a setting close to home. Providers receive assistance in scheduling and communicating with patients, coordinating with payers, and performing back office support functions. As the healthcare industry continues to seek ways to drive down costs, increase quality and improve transparency, Vicinitas represents an innovative approach which is attractive to physicians, payers, and most importantly patients.
Vicinitas is located at 1200 North Federal Highway in Boca Raton. Over the next 5 years, the company will have 200 full-time employees and will occupy 45,000 square feet of office space. Vicinitas projects a capital investment of approximately $4 million to renovate and equip their space.
The BDB assisted Vicintas with site selection, incentive package coordination, and workforce and training needs. The company received a $360,000 training grant from the State of Florida, as well as Qualified Target Industry Tax Refund (QTI) and Quick Action Closing Fund incentives totaling $1.45 million with $1.1 million from the State of Florida and a $350,000 contribution from the City of Boca Raton.
Angela Marchi, President and CEO of Vicinitas Cancer Care stated, “More and more patients are seeking an integrative approach to their cancer care needs, but are frustrated with the limited options they have in their communities. Financial pressures are increasing on providers making it difficult for them to focus on practicing medicine. Vicinitas offers a unique solution to address the needs of both of these groups.”
City of Boca Raton Mayor Susan Haynie stated, “We are thrilled Vicinitas Cancer Care has selected Boca Raton. Our community has a rich history of attracting corporate headquarters, information technology and life sciences companies. Vicinitas Cancer Care brings these industries together in an exciting way.”
Kelly Smallridge, President and CEO of the Business Development Board of Palm Beach County said, “The addition of Vicinitas Cancer Care reinforces the value of Palm Beach County and the City of Boca Raton as a location of choice for the healthcare industry and for corporate headquarters facilities. We look forward to welcoming this company to the community.”
